Lilley Place is passionate about enhancing the functioning of the community. As a team and service, we are always looking to learn, develop and give back. Lilley Place supports a number of charities and initiatives and the team regularly participates in charity and community events.
Commencing late 2020
The MBCT group provides intensive training in mindfulness meditation as a vehicle to enhance people’s self-awareness of automatic thoughts and feelings. It is by developing greater awareness of automatic thoughts and feelings – particularly when under duress – that people learn to step out of unhelpful ways of reacting that contribute to depression/anxiety/unnecessary stress. They also learn to be able to direct their attention more purposefully to gain a greater appreciation of the present moment.
Monday 11th May 2020
This group has been designed to help young people (grades 10-12) learn about emotions and feel more control of their lives, particularly in the context of stress and change. This six-week program will be held on Monday evenings by our wonderful psychologist Therese Price. Therese will use tools from Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to teach constructive coping and help improve the way young people relate to themselves and others. The group will cover relationship issues, school stress and other common challenges within this age group.
